Addressing the Tech Talent Gap in Utah

As most technology leaders in Utah are keenly aware, Utah technology companies are experiencing a significant workforce shortage. As tightening continues, it will be important to understand and address this growing problem. Our speaker,  Jonathan Johnson, will discuss the current state of that shortage, its root causes and propose solutions to address it.

Chairman of the Board, Overstock.com

Jonathan Johnson has been the chairman of Overstock's board of directors since April 2014, transitioning to the position after five years as the company's president and later the acting CEO and executive vice chairman of the board. Johnson joined Overstock in 2002 as the company's general counsel, and has held various business and legal related positions within the company prior to being named president.

In addition to his duties at Overstock, Jonathan serves on various charitable and community boards, including the board of Governors for the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, University of Utah Hospital Foundation, the Utah Technology Council, and the Hale Centre Theatre and he was the founding chairman of the Salt Lake Chamber Clean Air Task Force.

Johnson received a Bachelor's Degree in Japanese from Brigham Young University, studied at Osaka University of Foreign Studies in Japan as a Ministry of Education Scholar, and received his Juris Doctor degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
