Our Topic:
The Latest From the Cybersecurity and Privacy Front Lines
As the threats evolve so do the regulations and requirements. We must deal with all types of bad actors whether they be individuals, criminal organizations or nation states. Join us at our March 9th AIM Lunch meeting to hear from cyber and privacy expert Romaine Marshall. Romaine is not only an expert but a popular and compelling speaker who takes a pragmatic approach to the risks and responses to cyber threats. Romaine will update us on the latest regulations including the national guidelines and their implications.
Presentation Details:
In December 2021, a Russian official described a Third World War that “is underway and unfolding very intensively.” A month later, a US official warned that “[e]very organization in the United States is at risk from cyber threats” and released “Implement Cybersecurity Measures Now to Protect Against Potential Critical Threats” with guidance on how to combat them.
Prior to the above, and in response to the Colonial Pipeline ransomware incident and other cybersecurity incidents, the Biden Administration issued the “Executive Order on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity” which resulted in sector-specific security directives, and information sharing requirements between the public and private sectors.
Now, with the impending release of an updated national cybersecurity strategy, more requirements for organizations are likely to be enacted. In addition, various regulators have and will be increasing reporting obligations for corporate executives and boards. With Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and even Cuba as adversaries, the stakes have never been higher.
