Our Topic:

Connection Cures Contention

On Thursday, December 14th starting at 11:30 a.m. please join us for our December AIM lunch meeting. Our December meeting features Richard Godfrey – one of the most enlightening and entertaining persons we have ever met. Richard will talk about how Connection Cures Contention.

Being technology leaders can feel, at times, like the holidays with family – sometimes we are connecting and sometimes we are not. Technology is a culture of precision. Precision coupled with changing demands and the fast pace can create contention. But precision can also drive productive connection - as long as we commit to three principles and four leadership pivots:

In this session, with a special emphasis on the real-world demands on our technology leader roles, Richard will focus on the principles of that cure contention:

  • Contention may be naturally occurring but science shows it is not natural to humans
  • Generational contention is solvable by adding one critical element to the discussion
  • Learning to “BE” a leader how knows how to:
    • Be curious
    • Be available
    • Be creative
    • Be linked

Please join us for this meeting. To those who register (and also attend the meeting) we will provide a copy of Richard’s newest book “Connection Cures Contention.”

About Our Speaker, Richard Godfrey:

Richard Godfrey is CEO, Co-founder and Author at Avec-me (a consulting, training and coaching organization headquartered in Utah). Along with his partner and co-founder Jeremy Brown they have assembled a team to address one critical issue in today’s business and personal world – the destructive growth of contention and its solution by researching and building useful, measurable tools that work as well at home as they do at work to turn contention into powerful, productive connection.

Richard had the opportunity to learn the business from four of the great leaders in the leadership development and consulting space – Hyrum W. Smith, Dr. Ken Blanchard, Dr. Stephen R. Covey and Stephen M.R. Covey. He had the privilege to co-write, ghost-write and work on books, training and coaching projects for each of them.

Additionally, Richard has written a spectrum of best-selling books on his own or with other partners including the Cisco Leadership Team.
